Recently, the National Green Tribunal in a Case titled as “Shri Rajiv Dutta, Senior Advocate Vs. Union of India and others – Original Application No. 216 of 2016” has passed orders. This case was filed by me and pertains to the devastating fires which took place in the months of April, May and June, 2016 in the States of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The main thrust of the case is to secure the future of the forests existing in these two States from being devastated in the future. It was widely reported that in both the States, the Forest Departments and other connected Departments were found lacking. This case is presently sub judice.
